Kurt Cobain (vocals,guitar) met Chris Novoselic (bass,backround
vocals) in 1985 at Aberdeen only 100 miles outside of Seattle.The first real band Kurt and Chris were a part of was The Stiff
Woodies except instead of guitar Kurt played the drums and they had a rotating cast of guitarists and vocalists.But
the name The Stiff Woodies went through more changes then guitarists and vocalists so Kurt took over guitar and vocals then
got a new drummer named Aaron Burkhart later renaming the band Skid Row.Aaron after not too long left Skid Row and replaced
him with Chad Channing later renaming the band to Nirvana.In 1987 the band sent demos to Jack Endino and they were later signed
to Sub Pop records.Then two years later in the spring of 1989 they made their debut album "Bleach".It slowly became a huge
hit on college radios.During the summer they made another album called "sliver/dive" with YET ANOTHER drummer named Dan Peters.By
the end of summer Dan left and Nirvana's permanent drummer David Grohl stepped up.Then in 1991 the new Nirvana made their
sophomore album "Nevermind" which blew the roof off of the charts and in February the album went 3 times platinum.Their success
gave the music industry a good slap in the chops after Nevermind and I think MTV took back what they said about them
being backwoods hicks.Later Kurt married Courtney Love part of the rock group Hole.Courtney later gave birth to a healthy
baby girl named Frances Bean Cobain on Augest 18th 1992 and They were titled "The First Family of Grunge".But
soon rumors spread of the couple and heavy cocain use and they threatened to take away Frances.so Nirvana didn't record the
follow up to Nevermind however they made Incesticide in late 1992.Then in the spring of 1993 they recorded "In Utero" in a
matter of 2 weeks as the follow up of Nevermind.They released In Utero in September picking up positive reviews and initial
sales.But Kurt wasn't satisfied with it only going platinum.During this time Kurt was suffering from a strange stomach ailment
and became severely depressed and developed heroin habit.Then Nirvana agreed to play an acoustic concert at the end of the
year in New York.After January 8th when they finished their USA tour they embarked on their European tour in February.Shortly
after Kurt was diagnosed with severe laringitis and broncitis and was ordered to take a vacation.He later flew to Rome
to be reunited with his wife Courtney Love.On the night of March 3rd Kurt attempted suicide by overdosing on tranquilizers
also leaving behind empty blister packs that held the tranquilizers which meant the overdose wasn't accidental.He
then was sent back to Seattle to be hospitalized for the stomach ailment but his condition got worse.On March 18th
police had to talk him out of killing himself after he locked himself in a room.He was later sent to rehab but escaped to
his seattle home on April 1st 1994.On April 4th he *allegedly* shot himself in the head with a shotgun.His
body was found on April 8th by and electrician who was suppose to install an alarm system.Chris and David were going to release
a double disc live album but the footage of Kurt cut them too deep so Unplugged in New York took its place.That was the last
real album Nirvana made.
